The Expat Academy membership is truly valuable. It gives a great opportunity to keep learning, staying connected with peers and listening to insights as well as trends.

Expat Academy has proved to be a valuable resource for me and my (one other!) team member - so much so, that each time I've worked in-house I've rejoined expat academy (I first joined them in 2012, I think!) . Although I've worked in the Global Mobility sphere for many years, I always come away with at least one nugget of new information or food for thought at every session I attend, whether that's a 'huddle' session or the conference or colloquium events. It's a really valuable space for me to connect with other Global Mobility leaders too, as I'm the only person responsible for Global Mobility in my business - networking and sharing experiences, I find, helps me to formulate my strategy for my business.
My new hire (to expand my team to 2!) also found it really helpful. She was completely new to global mobility and expat academy sessions have supported her through her learning journey and to understand what this niche area is all about! She's also begun to network with others at her level and so it provides a support network for her too. She's also been able to engage with GMPD as a sister endeavour to Expat Academy and has found the two together to complete the picture for her.
I'd highly recommend membership at whatever stage of your career!
Helen Harfield
The Expat Academy is unique in the Global Mobility industry sector. It is without doubt the most recognised organisation for the provision of on-going Global Mobility support as it relates to training , industry updates and networking with fellow Global Mobility peers. Membership provides for a wide range of activities that are vital for Global Mobility professionals such as:-
-
Regular attendance at the Club 100 and Symposium events
-
Entrance to the EA Annual Conference
-
Access to the EA website, specifically access to the EA “vault” which provides a wealth of templates across all policy types and the benchmarking data allows you to ask questions and explore the wealth of responses
-
GMPD accreditation – this is the only Global Mobility recognised accreditation in the industry
-
Access to the Vanguards forum - aimed at Senior Global Mobility Managers to enable development of their GM career path
-
Global Heads forum – provides regular Global Head meetings to discuss market issues/potential resolutions and generally to understand “best practice” in the Global Mobility space.

Expat Academy really is a fantastic community, offering an opportunity to meet with fellow GM professionals and discuss the emerging trends. There are always little nuggets of information after an event that can be taken back to the wider team.
Will Scrupps
An excellent opportunity to meet peers and keep up to date on topical issues relevant to the industry. The huddles are really informal and you are made to feel comfortable to add to the discussions and be involved.
Mel O'Hara
The best thing about the Expat Academy membership is the community, everyone is very willing and able to help and support - it’s such a great resource to be able to tap in to. I really love the benchmarking service, we can submit a question and get responses from a huge range of companies which we can then feed into our policy development, our decision making and our negotiations with the business and it helps us to be competitive.
Fiona Shaw
An Expat Academy membership is just what every Global Mobility professional needs! It has so much to offer ranging from networking, learning about several topics and GM trends, benchmarking and gaining different peer perspectives, to the strategic input of the ever-supportive core team who check-in regularly to help with any challenge(s) being faced.
I have personally been part of this community since 2019 and am glad to have continued to be the beneficiary of its offerings even when I switched employers.
Riddhi Ravishekar
In-house Global Mobility teams really need help right as we are being asked to provide instant updates and solutions to the business, however as the challenges are new, it is a time that we are heavily reliant on our peers and you at Expat Academy are the gateway in allowing this to happen… not only are you sharing your own advice but are also connecting us to others in the industry. You really are the ‘enabler’ and I personally cannot thank you enough for all the support you have provided.
Khadeeja Islam
An excellent range of relevant topics pitched at the right level. Have taken away a few golden nuggets so a day well spent!
Sonal Wadher
As someone who has only moved in house in recent years I found my first expat academy colloquium extremely useful for putting recent industry changes into context against the backdrop of what my peers are experiencing. The topics were relevant and well delivered and the allocated networking sessions meant the day was balanced and engaging. I look forward to the next event!

I started working with Expat Academy in my role as Head of Global Mobility at Arup when I first came to the UK in 2015. I was amazed by the value of this membership. As well as offering the perfect networking platform and dozens of free training courses the membership gives access to their 'Vault' which contains every kind of policy template, assignment letter etc, ever written which you are free to use, copy and get inspired by. The team working at the Expat Academy have years of experience in different Global Mobility roles. I highly recommend a membership for you and your team.
Mark Derksen
No matter how well you think you have mobility covered someone in the room will have looked at it from an angle that you haven’t – sometimes, just sometimes, that fresh perspective is priceless. You can't ask for more than this. I’ve been to many networking events in my career and the level of sharing in this group is off the chart!
James Watts
Club 100 sessions are always really useful. It’s an invaluable opportunity to connect with peers and sense-check ideas. ‘Hot potatoes’ are fab too and a useful opportunity to discuss those current challenges and real-time problem solve. Most of all just an opportunity to network (and a day away from the desk!) is great
Helen Harfield
I thoroughly enjoyed the huddle in London, I learnt so much and made some great notes. I’m relatively new to GM and I came away from the huddle feeling inspired and confident that I’m on the right track.
Hazel Liebscher
It’s always valuable to keep on top of new trends but the networking part where you can share practices is also something I find incredibly useful,
Ariane deWilde
I often referred to the benchmarking tool in the first months of my new role. There is a wealth of knowledge on all Global Mobility topics. When the topic I was researching was not previously discussed I posted a question out to the network. The network responses were very helpful and reassured me I was on the right track. I recommend to all GM professionals to refer to the benchmarking tool when managing first time or complicated queries regarding international mobility.
Lindsay Clark
Thank you for a fantastic APAC huddle. It was a really well thought out agenda, with a great mix of interesting topical areas presented and lots of opportunity to discuss. Another great opportunity to share ideas, make new contacts/expand network in the region and of course that reassurance that there are other people out there facing similar challenges. I always come away from an Expat Academy event thinking my time has been really well spent!
Beth Griffiths
I was very delighted to have the opportunity to network and also spend time with GM professionals in the field discussing trends and upcoming opportunities for the function to grow strategically. The sharing sessions were very appreciated and the presenters for the various topics provided insightful updates and ideas.
Lawrence Chee
In this huddle, we have discussed the views and challenges on streamlining, sustainability and survival for Global Mobility. It is interesting to hear other companies views on this, what challenges they are facing and most importantly the steps from the companies to overcome the challenges. We also discussed the importance to maintain the client and vendor relationship for an effective business partnering where we have joked this is like a “marriage” partnering.
It is really great to have people from different companies, industries to share their experience and knowledge. It is very insightful and some great tips were shared which may be applied in my company's business and operations. It is also interesting to learn the technologies that each company is using where I can leverage on the experience they have to apply for RFPs in the future.
Irene Lim
I wanted to extend my heartfelt appreciation for the huddle we recently had. The agenda was well planned, offering a diverse range of compelling topics that kept us engaged and provided ample opportunities for fruitful discussions. This gathering not only allowed us to exchange ideas but also facilitated the creation of new connections and the expansion of our network in the region. Furthermore, it was reassuring to know that we are not alone in navigating the challenges of mobility. I genuinely relished every moment and found the day to be incredibly fulfilling. Thank you for your exceptional efforts in putting together such a valuable event. I look forward to future collaborations and more enriching interactions with the Expat Academy.
Aslinda Hamid
I highly recommend Expat Academy to anyone navigating the complexities of Global Mobility today. In less than a year, I've significantly expanded my understanding of GM and cultivated a supportive network. None of this would have been achievable without my membership to Expat Academy.
The Expat Academy Conference was a fantastic event. An excellent opportunity to expand my knowledge and to adopt a fresh perspective on various aspects of Mobility while also staying informed about the industry developments from my peers. The chance to network with new contacts from all over Global Mobility alongside colleagues of old was invaluable. I got a real sense that Global Mobility is an exciting field with a strong sense of support and community.
James Bowerbank
What a fantastic day! It was really interesting to hear about the challenges that other organisations are currently facing, and also reassuring to know that we are not alone in our struggles. I found the round the world updates really useful and it resonated with me that although we might be in different locations, our struggles are similar!
Kate Low
An ideal opportunity to look externally and gain insight into other organisation's GM agenda. To be able to bring business related challenges to discuss with like-minded people and professional experts is priceless.
Donna Casement
Being able to share best practice with other Global Mobility professionals is key - why re-invent the wheel when it’s already there. Insight into compliance is much appreciated and helpful. Thank you for the opportunity to participate!
Ditte Riis
This course was excellent, particularly because it was a project management course specifically for Global Mobility. It was really useful to hear from the speakers on the types of projects they have been involved with, how they managed those projects and suggestions/learnings that they were able to share with us. I liked the fact we have been given a template that we can use to outline our projects, and even though it may not be detailed enough to complete all project steps, it still gives an outline of the areas that need to be put into place.
Alicia Cadogan Wilson
This session provided a great overview for anyone new to the function or just want to know more about how the function provides a strategic business support. We learnt a lot of good concepts and sharing with fellow participants. I would recommend this.

We here at Mercer really value our partnership with Expat Academy. The various forums and events provide a wonderful opportunity to meet with our clients and other industry colleagues and contacts, share ideas, and keep on top of latest trends. Our experience of Expat Academy has been very positive. We set out to do something disruptive and different and have found that the team has been great at understanding how we can help and connecting opportunities which made sense. For several years now, edyn has partnered with Expat Academy, and with good reason. Being part of this welcoming, open and kind community not only allows us to engage directly with Global Mobility professionals, it keeps us in the know of trends and changes in the GM world. We are proud to play a part in this knowledge sharing community, when it comes to serviced accommodations and their place in mobility programs.

MyGMPD is a truly amazing and helpful platform. Being relatively new to the Global Mobility, all the materials, articles, webinars really help me firstly reconfirm the basic understanding I already have, reassure me I am on the right track, but also learn so many more new things, benefit from other companies’ and countries’ experience, and keep on top of the latest trends. It is great to know that time and effort I put in my personal development will be recognized and rewarded. The GMPD team is extremely helpful and attentive, which puts me at ease to ask questions or help.
Petya Pavlova
As Global Mobility evolves, we must tackle new obstacles and adapt our mindset to think more broadly and innovatively. This for me is where MyGMPD comes into its own as it provides Global Mobility professionals with the platform and resources required to stay on top of these changes, while also delivering a professional accreditation at the end of it.
Will Scrupps
I describe MyGMPD as a very enriching experience as this program has documents, webinars and material that is very useful for acquiring knowledge on Global Mobility topics. In addition, I would like to highlight that this program has the latest news that occur globally in the Global Mobility sphere and its different associated matters. I also highlight the role of my Virtual Learning Advisor from whom I received suggestions for trainings to take to be able to reach my 40 points. I highly recommend getting certified as a GMPD!
Daniella Angulo Pineres
I’ve studied on the GMPD programme for a number of years now and have found it a valuable tool to keep my global mobility knowledge up to date and relevant for the current age. I love the variety of subjects that I can choose to look at, some are purely personal and others are relevant to my day job. It’s also nice in a very busy environment to take time out for myself and my GM journey so I put aside some time once a week to do just that and choose a relevant subject.
Caroline Woodcock
As someone who is a recent convert to Global Mobility, I can confidently say that that the GMPD program has exceeded all of my expectations and provided an excellent source of information and massively helped me develop as a Global Mobility professional.
The extensive and diverse range of training materials and forums for discussion have been hugely helpful to my professional development and are both interesting and insightful in nature. I wholeheartedly recommend GMPD to anyone seeking to develop their technical understanding and professional capabilities within this fast-moving field!
Gareth Vaughan
The Learning pathways allow Equus employees to accelerate their platform learning, following both core (required) and suggested content tailored to our most relevant and pertinent topics with the business. We like to think of it as a tailored springboard, taking into account previous GM experience and sector knowledge.
Ben Love
I had a client meeting this morning on exactly this topic, and I am so glad I read this article beforehand. It made for some great thought provoking discussions and made my client think about things she needs to review internally. I felt confident speaking on the impact of Covid as we recover and emerge in new ways, and I felt credible in the topic. Some nice short, sharp areas for me to easily remember for future client discussions.
